Celebrating their achievements, Uniformed Public Services students who took part in the Berkeley Foundation Youth Leadership Programme were awarded certificates for their participation in week-long residentials held in Bannau Brycheiniog, Wales. The events took place in December 2023 and April 2024, marking another successful year for the initiative.
Special recognition was also given to four students from our Bridge to Mainstream course, who also participated in the programme. These students will now be progressing to Uniformed Public Service courses at 猫咪社区 when enrolment opens on 22 August 2024.
The residentials, which were fully funded by the Berkeley Foundation and Groundworks London, provided an enriching experience for the participants. This marks the second consecutive year of collaboration between the Youth Leadership Programme and external stakeholders.
Darren Morgan, course tutor, emphasised the transformative impact of the residential experience on the students. He said: “The residential experience not only challenges students across all eight of the key Skills Builder components but also hones their domestic skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and living away from home. While we include fun activities like caving, mountain climbing, and canoeing, it’s often during cooking challenges and mealtimes that you really see and hear how much the students have grown.”
The programme continues to offer invaluable experiences to young people, fostering personal development and preparing them for future success.
