Earlier this month, over 40 enthusiastic students from our Art & Design and Creative Media courses at Ealing Green College embarked on an inspiring visit to Kindred Studios in Shepherd’s Bush. The studio, renowned for its creative space and vibrant community of artists, welcomed the students for a morning and afternoon filled with exploration, learning, and firsthand experience in the world of professional creative arts.
The visit began with a tour of Kindred Studio’s latest exhibition, allowing students to discuss their interpretations of the pieces. Following the exhibit, students were warmly welcomed by the studio’s owners before embarking on a unique opportunity to meet seven resident artists. Each student spent around 20 minutes with each artist, during which the artists shared insights about their creative processes, artistic passions, and expertise. The sessions concluded with a lively Q&A, allowing students to delve deeper into the artistic world and gain advice for their own journeys.
The trip, organised by Louise Scully, Work Experience Advisor, was designed not only to spark inspiration but also to open doors for future opportunities. Reflecting on the experience, she commented: “Kindred Studios has been an incredible partner in offering our students opportunities that are rare in such a specialised field. The artists are incredibly patient and passionate, and their commitment to mentoring our students is invaluable. This visit has helped further ignite our students’ passion and provided them with direction as they move towards university and their future careers.”
Looking ahead, Kindred Studios are planning to partner with èßäÉçÇø to offer blocks of work experience blocks in November, with the studio being committed to offering students invaluable hands-on experiences. In addition, some students are set to participate in volunteer opportunities at upcoming art exhibits and theatre events, including assisting with exhibits, set design, and costume fitting.
