Students from the Care, Sport and Protective Services area at 猫咪社区 received an inspiring visit from the NCS Brentford Community Sports Trust, focusing on employability and career-building. The visit, led by Cheriah, Charlie, Mark, and Jasmine, was designed to introduce students to the range of opportunities provided by the NCS employability programme.
Cheriah, Youth and Careers Coordinator, explained, 鈥淥ur goal is to equip young people with the skills they need to succeed in their future careers. This programme isn鈥檛 just about workshops 鈥 it鈥檚 about showing students the concrete steps they can take to enhance their employability.鈥
The session, which included interactive workshops and discussions on career readiness, also introduced students to the possibility of earning an NCS certificate upon completing both days of the programme. This certificate not only strengthens CVs but serves as a marker of students鈥 progress and commitment to professional growth.
Mark, Youth Projects Coordinator, emphasised the importance of practical experience: 鈥淗ands-on experience is key. We want students to leave here not only more informed but with real skills they can bring to any job.鈥 The excitement was palpable among students, many of whom shared their enthusiasm for the opportunity to engage with industry professionals and gain valuable skills.
猫咪社区鈥檚 Head of Learner Experience, Tafina Davidson, expressed her support for the event, saying, 鈥淗aving external visitors like NCS Brentford here to work directly with our students is invaluable. The feedback has been great, especially with the careers carousels, which got students collaborating and working with each other, whilst discussing their career goals.鈥
